French is an official or widely spoken language in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Canada and many African countries, among others. Anyone submitting documents from these countries in Austria – for marriage, residence, citizenship or studies – usually needs a certified German translation. We also translate Austrian documents into French for use abroad.

Apostille or EU form?

EU Regulation 2016/1191 removes the apostille requirement for many public documents from EU member states, and multilingual standard forms can make a translation unnecessary for certain documents. We check this first so you only pay for what you actually need. For countries outside the EU we arrange the apostille or legalisation.

Besides written translations we provide French interpreters for civil weddings, notary appointments, meetings with authorities and business negotiations – on site anywhere in Austria or by video.
